Oxonmoot will be upon us before long and once again needs talks, panels, workshops and the like. If you wish to present a paper, chair a discussion or otherwise educate and entertain us during the day, please fill in the online submission form.
You will receive an acknowledgement email, but the selection of events will only take place after the closing date. The call for papers will be open between Friday 8 May and Friday, 14 August. The Daytime Events Co-ordinator will contact you by the end of Friday 28 August with further information.
The selection of papers will take into account the interests of Oxonmooters, the originality, relevance and quality of the proposal. Most papers will relate to Tolkien in some way, but don't be afraid to be creative: papers relating to other Oxford authors, like C.S. Lewis and Lewis Carroll for instance, and other fantasy authors are also welcome.
Panels of discussion and shorter papers would also be very welcome. If you would be willing to share a time slot with other people discussing the same theme, please say so in the comments field on the form.
Please bear in mind that presenting your paper at Oxonmoot succinctly, to the point and in as an interesting way as possible is very important. Your visual aids should be relevant, appealing and short. Your paper should, as much as possible, be presented orally, avoiding reading 15 pages of elaborate text, which is hard for a mixed audience not necessarily familiar with your theme to follow.
For any further questions, please contact our Daytime Events co-ordinator, Madeline Flint at dte AT oxonmoot DOT org, or by post c/o Sally Kennett, 210 Prestbury Road, Cheltenham, Glos, GL52 3ER.
