Oxonmoot

(or, "Let's meet in Oxford in September")

This is our Oxonmoot web emblem. It was designed by Denis Bridoux, one of our members.

Oxonmoot is held in Oxford in September every year, usually on the weekend closest to the 22^nd of September: Frodo and Bilbo's birthday. Most of the event is held in an Oxford college. There are usually around 100 to 200 in attendence.

The moot usually includes talks, a quiz, an art show, a masquerade and other entertainments, a visit to Tolkien's grave in north Oxford, and last, but not least, the chance to spend a weekend in the company of other fans of Tolkien's work.

Oxonmoot 2009

Oxonmoot 2009 will take place at Lady Margaret Hall from 25^th September 2009 to 27^th September 2009.

Advanced booking has now closed. You can still attend Oxonmoot and pay on the door. On the door registration will be available from 17:30 – 20:00 on Friday and from 10:00 – 13:00 and 14:30 – 17:00 on Saturday.

You will need to make your own arrangements for accommodation and meals.

The prices are:

Over 16 years old, Tolkien Society member £35.50
Over 16 years old, Non-member £40.50
11-16 years old, Society member £22.50
11-16 years old, Non-member £24.50
7-10 years old £1.00
0-6 years old free

You can join the Society on the door and benefit from the lower rates.

Note all under those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There are no events specifically for children.

Subject to space day tickets may be available on Saturday they are only valid until 18:00.

The closing event of Oxonmoot is the moving memorial ceremony at J.R.R.T.'s graveside. Transport from the college is provided for Oxonmoot attendees: at Wolvercote cemetery
